In 2023, I led a technical team under REMA to assess environmental risks in the volcano region of Northwestern Rwanda. By integrating drone imagery, LiDAR data, and local knowledge, the team identified high-risk zones prone to landslides and flooding. Thanks to this work, targeted community infrastructure—like drainage systems and relocation plans—was developed, protecting over 10,000 residents. This project showcased how modern technology and local engagement can work hand in hand to reduce climate vulnerability.
